Call for Interferences was the core topic of the workshop to explore how different disciplines in the sciences deal with the topic of EcoTechGender, implement it in their field or explore connections or interrelations with other disciplines, especially philosophy. The workshop was organized by Ruth E. Hagengruber and Felix Grewe.
Eleven international scholars from the disciplines of philosophy, gender studies, science and technology studies, medicine, and environmental sciences contributed nine different papers analyzing these ideas on EcoTechGender.
The workshop was introduced by Kateryna Karpenko‘s keynote on the topic of The advantages and disadvantages of cyberfeminism. The eight further contributions, which were impressively presented by young scientists, formed together with the keynote the basis for a networking discussion on the topic of EcoTechGender.
In addition to cyberfeminism and the ideas of Donna J. Haraway, which were explored in Kateryna Karpenko’s keynote and Felix Grewe’s talk. There were three papers on artificial intelligence from different perspectives. These included Bohdan Khilchevskyi’s talk on the intersection of AI and oncology research and practice, and Violeta Milicevic’s talk on AI and its impact on the recruitment process. Finally, the presentation by Marie Kukuczka, Stephanie Feilitzsch, and Jutta Eckhardt looked at AI as a research topic with regard to the consideration of women and marginalized groups in the creation of AI.
Denys Honchar’s presentation focused on the mechanisms and challenges of gender equality in surgery using the example of Ukraine before and during the war. Dariia Shevel presented her research on war-related ecological upheavals and their impact on pregnant women and children.
Ralf Mitschke presented his research on man-made machines, the associated image of men and petromasculinism, and the ideas of Cara Daggett. Urszula Szewczyk explained the importance of science as a tool within democracies and the dangers it faces from autocratic structures.
