Call for Papers: „ Female Voices, Media, and Modes of Communication in Theology and Philosophy“

Online Talk Series New Voices on Women in the History of Philosophy

March–May 2026, Tuesdays, 17:00–18:30 (Paris/Berlin time)

The New Voices on Women in the History of Philosophy network invites contributions to its upcoming online talk series Female Voices, Media, and Modes of Communication in Theology and Philosophy. The online talk series is organized by Dr. Marguerite El Asmar Bou Aoun (Saint Joseph University of Beirut), Dr. Daniel Fischer (University of Lorraine), Dr. Jil Muller (Paderborn University), and Dr. Katia Raya Rami (Saint Joseph University of Beirut), and is hosted by the Center for the History of Women Philosophers and Scientists (Paderborn University) in cooperation with the Saint Joseph University of Beirut and the University of Lorraine.

Women have long contributed to theology and philosophy, often navigating structures that mediated, restricted, or silenced their voices. From letters, diaries, and poetry to public lectures, activism, and digital platforms, women have continuously developed new modes of expression to engage in theological and philosophical discourse. This series approaches communication not merely as a neutral tool but as a form of power: choices of medium, rhetoric, and platform can establish authority, negotiate legitimacy, or challenge dominant frameworks. We invite critical reflections on how gender, communication, and power intersect in historical and contemporary contexts.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Historical trajectories of women’s voices in theology and philosophy

  • Concepts and reforms shaping women’s theological or philosophical thought

  • Modes of expression: literary, artistic, and digital strategies

  • Status and authority within academic and religious institutions

  • Media and digital culture as platforms for theological and philosophical engagement

  • Case studies of mediated ideologies (e.g., “tradwife” movement, digital feminist theologies)

  • Intersectional perspectives (race, class, sexuality, and cultural context)

  • Contemporary challenges and opportunities for women’s authority in discourse
