Today, it is becoming obvious that demonstrating its inability to win in a direct military confrontation, Russia is purposefully implementing traditional, patriarchal tactics of domination to destroy the Ukrainian economy and environment.
The purpose of this conference, on the one hand, is to show, that the airstrikes mainly target Ukraine’s critical life support infrastructure, industrial facilities, oil and fuel depots, chemical and pharmaceutical depots, public utilities such as sewage pumping stations, power stations and railways.
On the other hand, the task is to prove that this tactic being accompanied by a public demonstration and self-praise of the masculine superiority of the leaders is a pathetic imitation of it. It will be disclosed the fact that the Russian war against Ukraine means violence, poverty, forced displacement, broken lives, insecurity and lack of a future, depletion of nature, and ecocide.
The important topics of discussions will be the ontological, phenomenological, and existential dimensions of ecocide at the time and after the war. Ecofeminism and the ethics of care will become the methodological basis for analyzing the phenomena of ecocide.
The speakers include Oksana Zabuzhko (Receiver of France’s Legion of Honor), Dr. Tatiana Perga (Senior Researcher of ‘Institute of World History of National Academy of Science of Ukraine’), Dr. Iryna Utiuzh (Department of Social Sciences, Zaporizhzhia State Medical University), Dariya Tsymbalyuk, Iryna Zamuruyeva, Pina Piccolo, Prof. Dr. Tetiana Gardashuk, Cynthia R.
