Peter West New Voices Research Profile

My research focuses on both Early Modern and Twentieth-Century philosophy; primarily on issues in epistemology and metaphysics. Most of my work in Early Modern philosophy concerns theories of mental representation and human conceptual abilities – in the work of thinkers like Berkeley, Amo, Cavendish, and Shepherd. My work in Twentieth-Century philosophy, so far, focuses on Stebbing’s writings aimed at a popular audience; I am interested in using Stebbing’s approach to provide insights into how best to use philosophy to engage in public discourse.
