Prof. Dr. Fatima-Zohra Iflahen - Guest Lecture in the Field of Diversity Studies

On May 9, 2025, Prof. Dr. Fatima-Zohra Iflahen from Cadi Ayyad University, Marrakesh (Morocco), will give a talk titled “Women’s Rights Theories and Movements in Morocco and North Africa: Coming of Age or Tutorship?”. The lecture is part of the regular Research Colloquium of the Center for the History of Women Philosophers and Scientists, organized by Prof. Dr. Ruth E. Hagengruber.

About the Speaker:

Prof. Dr. Fatima-Zohra Iflahen is a renowned gender expert and committed community activist. She has worked as a consultant for various local NGOs as well as international organizations such as UNESCO, UN Women, and UNICEF. Her expertise spans women’s rights, migration, education, and development. Since 2019, she has been a member of the technical monitoring team for the UNESCO “Marrakech Learning City” project.

In addition to her role as a Full Professor at Cadi Ayyad University, she served as Vice-President for Research, Cooperation, and Partnerships until September 2024. She is also the Sedar Senghor Chairholder for Francophonie and a member of several international gender studies networks, including the Euro-Mediterranean “Local Actors for Equality” network.

Her research focuses on gender power dynamics and representations. Prof. Iflahen has conducted numerous studies, including surveys on women’s mobility, sexual harassment at universities, and development challenges in rural and mountainous areas of Morocco. She has also coordinated several Erasmus and TEMPUS projects since 2011.
