We would like to take this opportunity to officially welcome our current Summer Term Fellows at the Center for the History of Women Philosophers and Scientists: Dr. Gabriele Schimmenti and Vanessa Sabbatini.

Dr. Gabriele Schimmenti is a Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer at the University of Roma Tre (Italy). His academic career includes positions at renowned institutions such as the University of Cologne, the Humboldt University of Berlin and the University of Münster. With a background in philosophy, aesthetics and communication, he researches the intersections of philosophical thought and cultural history. As part of the colloquium last Thursday, Dr. Schimmenti gave a captivating lecture entitled “(History of) Philosophy, Politics, and Art in Louise Dittmar (1807-1884): A Feminist Perspective” (History of Philosophy, Politics, and Art in Louise Dittmar (1807-1884): A Feminist Perspective). The joint photo of our two scholarship holders was also taken on this occasion.

We are also delighted to welcome Vanessa Sabbatini, PhD student at the Università Politecnica delle Marche (Italy). Her research focuses on medical women in the Marche region in modern times, with a particular focus on Giulia Bonarelli and her pioneering “method of gentleness” in medical practice. Vanessa will present her research at the upcoming workshop on Women in the History of Medicine and Philosophy on June 18, 2025.

We warmly welcome both fellows to the Center and look forward to fruitful conversations and collaborations!
