Honoring Prof. Dr. Keiko Kawashima – Laureate of the Elisabeth of Bohemia Prize 2025

Awarded during the XX. Symposium of the International Association of Women Philosophers (IAPh) at the University of Tokyo. The Elisabeth of Bohemia Prize, donated by Ulrike Detmers, will once again be awarded by Prof. Dr. Ruth Edith Hagengruber to honor an outstanding contemporary philosopher whose work embodies the intellectual legacy and spirit of Elisabeth of Bohemia (1618–1680).
This year’s laureate of the endowed prize (3,000 EUR) is
Prof. Keiko Kawashima, Emeritus Professor at the Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan. She is a distinguished philosopher and historian of science, internationally recognized for her pioneering work on the intersection of gender and science, with a special focus on female scientists of the Enlightenment.
