Call for Submissions – Springer Book Series

Women in the History of Philosophy and Sciences

The Springer book series Women in the History of Philosophy and Sciences (WHPS) invites new book proposals that contribute to cutting-edge research on women’s work in philosophy, the sciences, and interdisciplinary fields.

Edited by Ruth E. Hagengruber, Mary Ellen Waithe, and Gianenrico (Gianni) Paganini, the series is dedicated to recovering, contextualizing, and critically engaging with women’s intellectual contributions from antiquity to the present. The history of women philosophers stretches back as far as the history of philosophy itself, yet their work has often been marginalized or overlooked. WHPS seeks to make this long and rich tradition visible and accessible to contemporary scholarship.

The series provides a platform for a wide range of publication formats, including monographs, edited volumes, handbooks, anthologies, and dissertations. It addresses an international audience across philosophy, history of science and mathematics, history of ideas, and women’s and gender studies.

Scholars interested in contributing to the series are invited to submit a one-page project description (PDF). Please do not submit full manuscripts at this stage. If a proposal fits the scope of the series, the Editors-in-Chief will contact the author(s) with further instructions.

Submissions should be sent by email to:

We warmly encourage researchers at all career stages to submit proposals and to contribute to the ongoing recovery and advancement of women’s intellectual history!
