EOB Lifetime achievement Prize 2024: Concha Roldán Panadero

The Elisabeth of Bohemia Prize donated by Ulrike Detmers, will be awarded by Ruth Hagengruber to an outstanding contemporary philosopher in honor of the philosopher Elisabeth of Bohemia (1618-1680).

This years winner of the lifetime achievement prize is Prof. Dr. Concha Roldán Panadero.

Prof. Concha Roldán Panadero studied Philosophy at the Complutense University of Madrid, where she obtained her PhD in 1987. She is currently a Senior Research Scientist at the Spanish National Research Council.

Her extensive academic career has been linked to Modern Philosophy, as an expert on Leibniz and Modern Women Philosophers. Her academic interest has always been linked to the recovery of women philosophers such as Anna Maria von Schurmann, Marie de Gournay, Marie Winkelmann von Kirch, Emilie du Châtelet, Anne Conway, Olympe de Gouges or Amalia Holst.

Roldan is a leading figure in Spanish feminist philosophy. Her leadership in academic institutional positions (first woman to be director of the Philosophy Research Centre at the Spanish National Research Council,  President of the Iberoamerican Philosophy Association and of the Spanish Network of Philosophy, among other important positions) has allowed her to position women philosophers at the philosophical canon, as well as to make their contributions visible. In 2019 she received the AWARD 2019: ‘TOP 100: Leading Women in Spain’ (Category: Thinkers).

She has also played an important role in building bridges with feminist philosophy in Latin America. She has been Guest Professor in México and Argentina and Main Leader of the Marie Curie European Project “Philosophy of History and Globalisation of Knowledge. Cultural Bridges Between Europe and Latin America” (2014-2019). As president of the Iberoamerican Philosophy Network (RIF) (from 2022), her commitment to strengthening ties with Ibero-American feminist philosophy has been institutionalised.
