My currrent research is on the nature and role of hypotheses in Isaac Newton’s thought. In particular, I argue that insofar as Newton thought hypotheses had specific usages and had to satisfy metaphysical and empirical critiera, commentators can make sense of how and why Newton himself relies on hypotheses while also rejecting Caretesian hypotheses. Two additional projects include exploring hypotheses and ‘principles of discovery’ in Leibniz’s and Du Châtelet’s thought as well as connecting topics in feminist epistemology with the thought of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz.
