Philosophical Festival in Weimar: „Denken für alle!“

November 6–7, 2026 | Stadtschloss Weimar, Germany | Free Admission

„Our present is marked by profound uncertainty and controversy. As cultural, economic, political, and increasingly military conflicts intensify, the very foundations of the idea of an open society – perhaps never fully realized – are increasingly being called into question.

As part of its thematic year Öffnen 2026, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar therefore invites everyone to reflect publicly and with the greatest possible openness on the present and future of the open society.

How can we reach a common understanding? What truly matters? Where do we want to go?“

« Il faut avoir l’esprit européen » – as Madame de Staël, who visited Weimar in 1803, put it. Her words offer a fitting historical perspective on these questions and relate to Prof. Dr. Ruth Edith Hagengruber’s lecture Europa neu denken! Ein philosophischer Auftrag (Rethinking Europe! A Philosophical Task).

„To explore these questions, we have invited a diverse range of guests to the recently reopened Weimar City Palace, which is opening its doors to everyone. Our guests include Ruth Edith Hagengruber, President of the German Society for Philosophy, lecturers from adult education centres and universities, philosophical writers such as Dr. Daniel-Pascal Zorn, bloggers such as Sarah Rebecca Strömel, and radio hosts and podcasters such as Jürgen Wiebicke from Philosophisches Radio.

Alongside lectures and panel discussions, we also offer a variety of formats, including a philosophical exploration trail, a Philosophy Slam, workshops, wall newspapers, and a philosophical dance party, inviting everyone to come together and develop new ideas.“
