Seminar: Husserl and Stein on the Relation between Motivation and Causality
Seminar | 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM |
Course Description
Both Edmund Husserl and Edith Stein assume a fundamental distinction between the domains of nature and mind. Accordingly, natural and mental events are governed by different kinds of laws. While natural events are subject to causal laws, the domain of the mental is structured by a specific form of causality—namely, motivation.
The seminar aims to examine selected texts by Husserl and Stein in order to understand the distinction between causality and motivation.
Organizer: Dr. Henning Peucker (Paderborn University, Germany) & Prof. Dr. Mette Lebech (Maynooth University, Ireland)
