The XX. Symposium of the International Association of Women Philosophers (IAPh) has officially opened today, Friday, August 1, 2025, at the University of Tokyo. Among other under the direction of Prof. Dr. Yuko Murakami (Rikkyo University) and Prof. Dr. Noburu Notomi (University of Tokyo), the first day set the tone for an inspiring week of philosophical exchange and feminist dialogue across continents and disciplines.
The Opening Ceremony brought together key figures of the international community. Among them was Prof. Dr. Ruth Edith Hagengruber (Paderborn University), IAPh General Secretary and President of the German Society for Philosophy, who also chaired the first thematic session of the day about Maternity, Reproduction and Self determination.
