Anthony Fisher New Voices Research Profile

Anthony Fisher works on the history of metaphysics in the twentieth century. The aim of his research is to trace the evolution of metaphysics from its widespread acceptance in the early twentieth century through the mid-twentieth century when metaphysics was unpopular and ridiculed to its revival in what is today known as analytic metaphysics. He aims to uncover overlooked pieces of the narrative by underappreciated philosophers such as Samuel Alexander, Mary Calkins, Grace de Laguna, and Helen Wodehouse. Anthony also has interests in women philosophers in the Early Modern period such as Margaret Cavendish, Damaris Masham, and Mary Shepherd.
