She is very well known for her poems but also her philosophical and theological essays on prose writings. She also wrote an Autobiography looking back at 65 years of her life. She did not go to school but started reading the bible at the age of three and participated in the studies of her brothers. During that time she was educated on Greek, Arithmetic, Geography, Astronomy, Music and Painting.  Her father taught her French and Latin. She even wrote her Autobiography in Latin. During her time in Faneker, she used the opportunity to visit universities and study philosophy. She received recognition for her language skills, which helped her to communicate with researchers around the world. However, during all her studies, she was refused a degree or doctorate. In 1638 her dissertation was finally published.
